He was born 8 August 1816, Bogotá, the son of Manuel Caicedo and Rosa Rojas y Lorion, brother of Dionisia Caicedo Rojas, his grandparents were José Caicedo y Flores and Magdalena Cabrera y Prieto Ricaurte. (Monsalve, 221)
He was a journalist, parlementario, academic, writer who contributed to
La Caridad,
El Mosaico,
El Papel Periódico,
El Reporterio Colombiano,
El Trovador,
El Duende,
El Museo,
El Pasatiempo,
El Neogranadino, and
Biblioteca de Señoritas. (Mostly after 1850.) He had many publications including
Las criadas de Bogotá. (Zea, 219)
He used Pseudonyms Celta, Damón, Yarilpa.
He died on 20 October 1898.
