From Machetá, Colombia, on 28 September 1817 she and her daughter, Gertrudis Vanegas, hid Vicente and Ambrosio Almeyda and others who had escaped from their royalist captors. There seem to be strong connections to Salavarrieta's spy network. (Díaz y Díaz, 74-75).
