Biographical details

Upper class woman possibly from Lima, during the Viceroyalty of José Joaquín de la Pezuela she became interested in the independence cause. She hosted a meeting at which she pledged all her jewellery to the independence cause and persuaded others to do the same. It was a considerable tally. She is said to have stated "las joyas sólo sirven para alimentar la vanidad del hombre y de la mujer". (García y García, 239-240)
