Biographical details

A member of the Trujillo nobility, she staunchly supported the independence cause. She was an enthusiastic propagandist who convinced many to support the patriots. After San Martín voluntarily left Peru she hosted political tertulias in her home, where she worked to consolidate independence. When Bolívar arrived, she remained faithful to her republican beliefs and worked with Bolívar. (García y García, 282-283)
