Biographical details

She was one of the first women to open her tertulia to San Martín and it thus became dedicated to independence. She was highly talented and devoted to her husband's cause. It was said of her "¡es mucho hombre esta mujer!" San Martín considered her to be one of his greatest female friends. She was the mother of Manuela Rábago y Avella Fuertes de Riglos of Lima, born 1809. (García y García, 288-289)
