Biographical details

Known as “The Angel of Goliad”, she was a soldadera in Texas campaign, Mexico
The consort of Capt. Telesforo Alavez. She saved the lives of at least 99 Americans before the Goliad massacre by persuading the Mexican officers that execution orders didn’t apply to unarmed men and that Americans with useful trades could help the Mexicans. She gave water to the wounded soldiers and tended to their wounds (Salas 30).
