Biographical details

The daughter of Francisco Ruiz and María del Carmen Ruiz, she married Thomas Brown in Cumaná in 1828. She was widowed in 1832 and in 1845, seeking compensation, she told the Cumaná courts that she had become "reduced to a state of extreme poverty, almost blind because of her sufferings, ànd only survived because of the occasional benevolence of her aunt." (Brown, 194)
