Biographical details

From Caracas, she was the sister of generals Mariano and Tomás Montilla, and daughter of Juana Padrón de Montilla. A Spanish captain, Martinena, fell in love with her and converted to the independence cause, bringing with him his brig, El Celoso. (Monsalve, 54)
