Biographical details
From Caracas, one of her sons, Lorenzo, died fighting against the Spaniards in Venezuela on 12 August 1811; another, Venancio, died in battle at Araure; a third, Pedro joined the patriots at the age of 15 to avenge his brothers, was killed at San Mateo on 28 February 1814. In 1816 she and Manuela Aresteiguieta de Zárraga, were on the point of being whipped by Salvador Moxó, they were reprieved after an intervention by the Oidor Francisco Heredia, but were imprisoned in La Guaira for being patriots.
