She was condemned by Morillo to be whipped in the streets and plazas of Caracas for having rejoiced in the triumphs of General MacGregor in 1816. The royalist Feliciano Montenegro Colón intervened and prevented the sentence (he later became a patriot). (Monsalve, 72)
