Biographical details

She and her husband, Dr. Francisco Fierro were among those who fled the royalists at Cartagena in 1815. They were shipwrecked on Coclé beach, where her relative, Ana Pombo, died of hunger. The survivors were captured by Capt. Bedoya who robbed them of all they had, even their clothes. He then took them to Portobelo, where they were imprisoned. Within days they were returned to Cartagena where the women and children were imprisoned in San Felipe Castillo and the men imprisoned elsewhere. (Monsalve, 126)
