Other names/titles: Gender: F

Biographical details
Born in Tacna, in 1819, she was educated in Lima by her father, the lawyer Benito Lazo who founded the Supreme Court of Peru. She married Norberto Eléspuro, and attended Gorriti’s tertulias. She wrote a comic play,
Las muchachas engreías and
Que nadie lo sepa. She wrote on religious and social themes in the press, all with a generous dose of irony about the excesses of her time. She wrote frankly, denouncing political power and the custom of repressing women’s intellectual development. She died in 1905. (Balta, 47-51)
