Biographical details

From Cali, Colombia, in March 1817, she collected arms from José Hilario Mora and Capitán Anrade, of the Numancia Battalion who had deserted to the patriot cause. She kept them hidden and said nothing about them for over a week. Mora and Andrade were then defeated by the royalists and imprisoned, but the patriots regrouped and, using the arms Vaca had hidden, were able to release Mora, Andrade and others. (Monsalve, 189)
