Biographical details

From Bogotá, she was the daughter of Manuel Caicedo and Rosa Rojas y Lorion, and sister of writer José Caicedo Rojas. Her grandparents were José Caicedo y Flores and Magdalena Cabrera y Prieto Ricaurte. On August 1819 she was among a group of 20 young women from distinguished families presented to Bolívar when he arrived at Bogotá in triumph. She married José Ignacio Rovira. She was one of the most beautiful and distinguished women of high Bogotá society. She was a member of the Caicedo, Gutiérrez, Vergara, Villavicencio and Ricaurte families. (Monsalve, 218, 225)
