Tadea Jordán y Vértiz de Ramírez

Biographical details

She was born in Arroyo de la China, now Concepción del Uruguay, Entre Ríos, the daughter of Antonio Jordán y Vértiz of Malta and Juana Tadea Magdalena de Vértiz y Salcedo, and a member of the Viceroy's family. She married Juan Gregorio Ramírez. They had two children. On 3 October 1788 she gave birth to a "hijo natural", sometime after Ramírez's death and before her marriage to Lorenzo Francisco López on 20 August 1789. She had seven further children from this marriage. Two of her sons, Francisco Ramírez and Ricardo López Jordán became caudillos in Entre Ríos. This "woman of character" died on 8 February 1827.
