Biographical details

Born in Montevideo 3 January 1833, during her parents' exile, sister of Bartolomé Mitre. She was educated in Montevideo, excelling in French, her brother provided her with books, the first being El espejo de las señoritas, containing all types of housework. She moved to Buenos Aires in 1850 and married Carmelo Rosende there on 26 June 1857. They had 11 children. She lived until at least 1906. (Sosa de Newton, 415)
