Biographical details

Born around 1797 in San Juan, Argentina, she married José Martínez Cruz, a Spaniard on 5 January 1812. She supported independence and gave generous contributions to the army funds. She was widowed and remarried Eduardo Centurión in 1838. They lived in Chile during Rosas's rule, where they met Sarmiento. She became Sarmiento's mother-in-law in 1848. (Sosa de Newton, 480)
