Biographical details
Born in Guardia de Pilar, Buenos Aires province and baptised on 18 February 1792, she worked taking post along the San Fernando to Buenos Aires road. On 7 June 1810 she married Vicente Bengochea in San Fernando. She was widowed in 1826, left with 9 children. In 1828 she remarried, a cousin of her first husband. She was widowed again in 1848, and continued to work building up the postal service into a respectable business (the government reorganised it in 1822). She worked tirelessly whatever the weather. She died in San Fernando on 11 February 1867. (Sosa de Newton, 596, 595)
