R.W. Hardy met her in 1827 in Mexico City: "A more excellent and amiable lady does not exist, and I am bound to acknowledge the many kind civilities which I received at her hands. She is a woman of great talent and wit, although I never knew her to make an ill-natured observation. She has an a excellent house, furnished in good taste and containing a variety of extremely good paintings.” (Hardy, 520)
