She was born in Puebla in 1770 and gave economic assistance to Nicolás Brava and Vicente Guerrero by selling her jewellery and other assets . She helped Guadalupe Victoria escape from the royalists. She was imprisoned and suffered hunger and misery in the course of Mexican independence. (Carrera Stampa, 1,7)

She protected the patriots who had been imprisoned. (González Obregón, 162)
