From Guanajuato, Mexico, she contributed to the independence cause. (Carrera Stampa, 7)

A Mexican woman who, together with Felipa Castillo, was accused of treason between 1815 and 1818. Castillo was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment, but the case against Vargas was dropped. (Miquel i Vergés, 131)
