From Veracruz state, Mexico, she was married to Manuel Montiel. Montiel was killed in the independence cause and she was arrested in November 1816, near to Orizaba, and was detained in a casa de reclusión de Santa María Chalchicomula for the rest of her life. (Miquel i Vergés, 365)
