Biographical details

Born in Spain, he arrived in Peru in April 1791 (from the Philippines). A Franciscan priest who established Semanario Crítico in Lima. (Romero de Valle, 227) This was the first publication orientated towards women, specifically the mothers of the elite for the education of their children. It was sold by subscription in a bookshop at the front of the Café de Bodegones, which was the most used café of its time. (Rosas Lauro, 145)

He subscribed to El Mercurio Peruano, in 1791. (Clément, 120)
