Biographical details
She was born in Puertos de Altagracia, Venezuela. Her parents hosted patriotic meetings in their home. She was captured and brought before Capitán Francisco Tomás Morales who ordered that she should be whipped and made to ride naked through the streets on an ass. The only sound she made during her ordeal was to repeat the phrase, "Si no capitula, monda". (N.A., Heroínas, 30-32)
She was arrested, whipped and made to ride naked through the streets of Maracaibo by royalists in 1823. (Cherpak, 222)
