Biographical details

An upper class woman, from Lima, who was very cultured and very beautiful. She wrote and distributed boletines for the independence cause. She established communication links between López Aldama and General Castilli, enabling them to learn of royalist movements. She was imprisoned by the Viceroy, but as the prisons were full she and other women were sent to do menial work in hospitals. She bore this punishment (specified as having to work as a servant) serenely and with indifference. After independence she acclaimed by society in triumph and she was made a member of the "Sociedad de Damas". (García y García, 221-222)

She was awarded the Orden del Sol by San Martín in 1822. (Gaceta de Lima, 23-1-1822, p.4)
