Biographical details

He was born Lima in 1744. He graduated as a doctor and a lawyer from San Marcos University. He enlisted as a soldier in Regoto de Nobles in 1763, was made a captain in 1786, and a coronel in 1816. He was Asesor de la Casa de Moneda (1788-90), Alcalde del Cabildo (1789-90) and Fiscal internal de la Audiencia (1792). He subscribed to El Mercurio Peruano in 1791. In 1821 San Martín named him Consejero de Estado. He was a member of the Orden del Sol. He died in 1823. (Clément, 96-97.)

As her tutor and priest, he made a legal speech in defence of the minor, Doña Grimaneza de la Puente in 1792. (Medina, 231)
