Biographical details

Born in 1793, the son of Agustina López de Osornio and León Ortiz de Rosas and brother of María Rosas de Baldez, Mercedes Rosas de Rivera, Andrea Rosas de Saguí and Agustina Rosas de Mansilla. (Sosa de Newton, 551-552)

A federalist landowner who opposed Rivadavia's liberalism and Unitarianism, he was Governor of Buenos Aires from 1829-32 and dictator from 1835-1852. (Lynch, xxi)

He died in 1877.
