Biographical details

A poet, mathematician and a metallurgist, born in 1786. He wrote several poems to commemorate the battles of independence. "Al pueblo de Buenos Aires" urged people to live in the countryside and raise cattle and horses. He was among the 28 members of La Sociedad de Buen Gusto, that had its first meeting in July 1817. It was founded to perform dramas. He died in a shipwreck in the Río de la Plata in 1824. (Coaster, 57, 58)
