Lucila Antepara de Godoy

Biographical details

A painter born in San Juan, possibly in the 1820s. She was musical and good at drawing. She attended the Colegio Santa Rosa, founded by Sarmiento. On 9 July 1840 she was awarded a prize for the best pupil. Procesa Sarmiento and Franklin Lawson taught her. In 1845, Sarmiento sent her an album of drawings and current thought from Chile. She married Ruberto Godoy in 1854. She was a member of the Sociedad de Beneficencia, and was its president twice. She died in San Juan on 22 March 1905. (Sosa de Newton, 30)
