Biographical details

Born in England on 31 October 1810, the daughter of Guillermo Brown and Elizabeth Chitty. The family settled in Buenos Aires. Elisa was engaged to Francisco Drummond. She was devastated when he was killed during a naval campaign against Brazil on 8 April 1827. On 27 December 1827 she drowned while bathing in a river. It was suggested it could have been suicide. She was buried alongside Drummond in Socorro church. (Sosa de Newton, 98)
