Biographical details

Born in Salta in 1806, she married Manuel Ubaldo Plaza, a soldier in the independence army in 1821. She was a fervent supporter of the independence cause. After Güemes's death she donated her jewels to help the movement continue. She was persecuted from 1836 for her Unitarian beliefs. She tried to emigrate but was imprisoned. She later devoted herself to pious works. She died in Salta on 22 August 1888. (Sosa de Newton, 110)
