The sister of José Ignacio de la Roza, from San Juan, Argentina, she married Capt. Mariano Mendizábal. During the independence struggles she was one of several San Juan women who donated money and jewels to the cause. "El Aporte de la mujer sanjuanina a la gesta libertadora del General San Martín".
She donated 6 pesos in cash, "unas cadenas de oro y una cadena de los mismo con peso de tres onzas nueve adarmes" valued at 39.15 pesos, a total of 45.15 pesos. (Guerrero, 18, 60)
Despite the opposition of her family, she married Mariano Mendizábal of the Regimento de los Andes, who led the rebellion in San Juan on 9 January 1820. She helped her sisters make the flag that San Juan sent for the Ejército de los Andes. Mendizábal was sent to Lima to be judged. He was sentenced to death and shot on 30 January 1822.
