He was born in 1814, the brother of Juan Francisco Ortiz. He wrote a pro-indigenous play, Zulma, inspired by the sacrifices to the sun. It was presented in Bogotá in a friend’s house in 1833. He died in 1892. (Arciniegas, 691.)
