Born in Ica. She was extremely wealthy. She made no secret of her pro-independence sympathies and her neighbours betrayed her. She was brought before the chief of the royalist army, General Rodil, accused of serving enemies of the country and of the king by spying. She remained calm, not fearing imprisonment or threats of death. She remained serene during her long months in prison. (García y García, 245)
