From Cajamarca, she was the sister of Mercedes Ortiz de Zevallos de Egúsquiza. She married Coronel José Gálvez, a patriot and worked with all her intelligence for the independence cause. Her son was General José Gálvez, later minister of war in Prado's government and grandmother of José Gálvez Moreno. Bolívar awarded her a medal for her services to the independence cause (in 1825?).
