Her father, Manuel Anselmo Tapia was Regidor of Potosí. The family moved to Chuquisaca for health reasons in 1810. She was intelligent and beautiful.
She was a member of Aldunte y Rada's group of distinguidas señoras who greeted Castelli in Sucre in 1810. She was dressed in white with her long dark hair flowing over her shoulders, she recited a greeting and pledge of support written by her father, and she and the other women offered their jewellery to the cause.
