The sister of José Manuel Mercado who fought for the independence cause in La Paz, Montevideo and Buenos Aires. When her son was defeated at Pari in November 1816, she sought refuge in Cordillera province. In 1817 she and her mother, Rosa Montero, and María Antonia Warnes were captured and taken to Santa Cruz.
