She retrieved and hid the head of the defeated patriot General Ignacio Warnes when it was displayed in Santa Cruz plaza, Bolivia, (in 1816?), thus sparing the deceased humiliation and taking from the royalists the opportunity to gloat. (Urquidi, 233-234)
