From Santafé de Bogotá, he married María Tadea González y Manrique. They had nine children. They were among the richest and most influential members of the viceroyalty. He was in El Mortiños camp in the 1780-82 Comuneros rebellion (he was by then a widower). His daughter, Clemencia Lozano y González Manrique married Juan Esteban Ricaurte in 1782.
