From Maturín, Venezuela, on 16 May 1813 she among three women who were killed during or after a battle in Villa de Aragua, Maturín. She was singled out by Bolívar: "Entre las más bellas de su sexo, la joven Luisa Arambide, hija de un español pero nacida en América, fue públicamente expuesta y azotada, hasta rendir su último aliento." Monsalve notes that some sources say she was killed by a sabre, others that she was whipped to death. (Monsalve, 55)
