From Caicara, Venezuela, in March 1816 Caicara was occupied by royalist troops after they had been defeated in battle by the patriots. They sought to take revenge on the patriots´ homes, women and children. She was among a group of women who tried to defend the town. She was killed in battle on 16 March 1816. (Monsalve, 75)
