From Caicara, Venezuela, she was among a group of women who tried to defend the town when it was occupied by royalist troops in March 1816. The royalists had been defeated in battle by the patriots and sought to take revenge on the patriots' homes, women and children. She was killed in battle on 16 March 1816. (Monsalve, 75)
