From Granada, Colombia, she married patriot Vicente Celedonio Gutiérrez de Piñeres, and sent her children to accompany him into battle at La Quinta. In 1815 when Mompós was occupied by royalists, she was robbed of her jewels and money. She fled the town with her children and her elderly mother abandoning her other possessions. They joined Gutiérrez de Piñeros who was with his battalion. They were taken prisoner by Morillo in Cartagena, sent to Las Antillas, where they nearly starved to death, and from there to Barcelona. (Monsalve, 107-8)
In 1815 she, her husband and their children fled the royalists at Cartagena. (Monsalve, 125)
On 7 April 1817 she was among around 300 patriot prisoners killed by the royalists at San Francisco Convent, Barcelona. She, her mother and two of her daughters were beheaded, another daughter survived a bayonet attack. (Monsalve, 78)
She was assassinated by the royalists despite being pregnant, along with her mother, Sebastiana de Godoy. Her daughters, Micaela, María Ignacia and Nicolasa were hung and her 4 year old son, José María was killed by bayonet. (P. Forero, 68-69)
