She was a member of a committee of señoritas in Ocaña, Colombia, who presented Bolívar with a crown of flowers when he arrived victorious at their town. She married Antonio José Caro, who was "very royalist", but Ibáñez stayed loyal to the independence cause. Their son, José Eusebio Caro, was born on 5 March 1817. He became a poet, journalist and politician. (Monsalve, 111-113)
She was related to Carmen Ibañez and Bernardina Ibáñez.
