Born in Salta in 1827, she was the daughter of Petrona Cornejo and Antonio Hernández. She entered the Carmelitas Calzadas convent and led the Colegio de Educandas de Salta, at which she taught grammar. She published Comprendio de gramática castellana, in 1878, an adaptation of Gregorio Martí's work. She corresponded with Andres Bello, Rufino Cuevo and Juan María Gutiérrez. She died on 10 November 1898 in Salta. (Sosa de Newton, 309)
