Women confronted/ defied individual royalistsBiography:
From Bogotá, she married Francisco Urquinaona, a high-ranking royalist. She became a patriot after her family was persecuted. One day, around 1816, after she was widowed, a royalist official called at her home and demanded accommodation. She replied that she was housing several soldiers and if he stayed too she would have nowhere to sleep. The official replied that she would give him a bed, even if it belonged to Christ himself. From her balcony, she held a crucifix to him and invited the officer into the house to take his bed. He turned and walked away. (Monsalve, 158)
