From Bogotá, she was the daughter of José María Domínguez del Castillo and Josefa de la Roche y O'Rian, sister of Francisca and sister in law of José Fernández Madrid. On August 1819 she was among a group of 20 young women from distinguished families presented to Bolívar when he arrived at Bogotá in triumph. She later married Pedro Gual. (Monsalve, 218, 221)
