A satirist, Presbyterian, poet, and writer, born Lima in 1780, he studied and then taught at San Marcos University. He was a moderate liberal who edited the Lima newspapers, El Argos and El Cometa in 1813. He inspired El Investigador. (Martínez Riaza, 38, 76-77)
His satirical letters were famous. He had a polemic with Pardo y Aliago who he stigmatised as a foreigner with the name “Bernadito”. (Romero de Valle, 173)
He died in 1832.
