Biography:
She was born around 1803, the daughter of Captain Camilo Guevara. When she was aged 13, she was accused by the royalists of "infidencia" (patriotism) when she reprimanded the royalists for mistreating her father. She hair was cut off and she was made to walk around Popayán plaza to the beat of a drum; she was then taken to Pasto with her father and other patriots. (Monsalve, 226)

Arciniegas describes her as having been terrorised (in Popayán) for the republican cause. (Arciniegas, 86)
