She was shot in Sogamoso, Colombia, in 1819 for her part in the independence struggles. (Hincapie Borda, 155)
She worked as a seamstress in Sogomoso making women's clothes, but she and a group of women used this as a cover to make uniforms for the patriots. EstefanÃa Neira de Eslava was among this group. They were discovered and the two were imprisoned in July 1819. Izquierda was shot on 24 July 1819. (P. Forero, 160)
